  • Acted as Singapore counsel for the sale of shares and assets of S&P 400 multinational Sonoco, collectively worth around US$1.8 billion, including in respect of reverse due diligence on Sonoco’s employment practices in Singapore, and advice on the transfer of employment and work passes from Sonoco to the buyer, Nikkei 225 multinational Toppan.
  • Acted as Singapore counsel to JPX-listed Yokohama Rubber in its US$905 million acquisition of Goodyear’s Off-the-Road tyre business. The matter involves the alignment of employment transfer processes, as well as compensation and benefits, across 32 jurisdictions.
  • Acted for Teo Chong Yeow, an ex-BGC Partners broker, in successfully setting aside a bankruptcy statutory demand for Mr Teo to pay more than two years’ salary in lieu of notice, successfully arguing that notice periods could be susceptible to restraint of trade scrutiny.
