The newly established SCHACHNER Rechtsanwälte GmbH was founded by Gerald Schachner in October 2024. Schachner boasts extensive experience across a wide array of complex private client matters, from disputes and litigation to corporate reorganisations and succession planning.

The private client team at Binder Grösswang is well-regarded for its cross-border abilities and excels in estate planning, tax structuring and related litigation. Andreas Hable, Thomas Schirmer and Christian Zwick spearhead the practice. Hable’s diverse practice encompasses international tax structuring, succession planning, asset management and immigration matters. Schirmer routinely advises private clients on M&A and real estate transactions, general contracts and related transactional matters. Zwick caters to entrepreneurs and advises them on M&A, growth and exit strategies and relevant civil and commercial law issues. Mona Graf was promoted to partner in February 2025, specialising in corporate issues as well as wealth management. Adrian Zwettler and Simona Chwala are also names to note.

Schindler Attorneys offers advice on the full spectrum of private client matters, such as tax and inheritance issues, as well as family and real estate challenges. The team also boasts expertise in art and private foundation law and is particularly well-versed in matters at intersection of inheritance and corporate law. Clemens Schindler is at the helm and specialises in corporate and tax advice, catering to family offices and shareholders. Katharina Schindler is a key contact for German clients and routinely advises on inheritance and corporate issues. She also advises collectors, galleries and museums on art law. Former practice head Philipp Hoyos left the firm in February 2025.

Wolf Theiss Rechtsanwälte GmbH & Co KG caters to Austrian and international HNWIs throughout the CEE region on a wide range of wealth protection and tax-related issues, from estate planning and relocations to trust, foundation and dispute resolution advice. Practice head Niklas Schmidt is a highly experienced tax advisor and is also an expert in related crypto issues. Eva Stadler, made partner in October 2025, undertakes international tax planning issues, particularly relating to the relocation of HNWIs to or from Austria, as well as wealth management structures and estate planning. Former practice head Karl Binder departed the firm in June 2025.

bpv Hügel is notable for its private foundations expertise, and the team also offers advice on a broad array of other issues, including succession and estate planning, asset structuring, marital agreements and will structuring. Florian Plattner is at the helm of the group, he caters to HNWIs and families and is particularly well-versed in private foundations. Plattner also advises on business succession, private investment and art investment matters. In October 2024, former practice co-head Gerald Schachner founded his own firm.

Cerha Hempel’s private client offering spans a wide array of related matters on behalf of UHNWIs, funds and trusts. Albert Birkner counts a large range of Austrian funds amongst his clients and also heads the firm’s mergers and competition department. Irene Welser spearheads the contentious side of the practice and is an expert in probate, estate and succession disputes and often handles cross-border litigation.
